Bangkok: Thai gold prices experienced significant fluctuations today, changing a total of 38 times, as they fell in line with global markets. The prices are temporarily consolidating but are anticipated to reach 70,000 baht by the end of the year. Concurrently, the Thai stock market saw a surge in capital inflows, maintaining levels above 1,300 points.
According to Thai News Agency, the stock market rose by over 20 points during the afternoon session. This increase followed the announcement of Deputy Finance Minister Woraphat Thanyawong’s resignation, which was intended to clear the government of any allegations related to scams. Additionally, the market was buoyed by buying pressure on banks, which reported better-than-expected Q3 2025 earnings. Retail and tourism stocks also responded positively to the government’s economic stimulus policies. The decline in gold prices prompted investors to shift their portfolios towards the stock market, resulting in the Thai stock market closing up 11.63 points at 1,302.
35, with a trading value of 51.176 billion baht. Foreign investors emerged as net buyers, purchasing Thai stocks worth 4.097 billion baht.
Mr. Jitti Tangsitpakdee, President of the Gold Traders Association, remarked that gold shops were particularly busy today, including those with online trading systems. Traders were actively speculating on the temporary correction in gold prices and the sharp rise in global gold prices. He advised investors to exercise caution during this correction period, although he remains optimistic that gold prices will continue to rise by the end of the year. He attributes this expected increase to the anticipation that the US Federal Reserve (Fed) will implement two interest rate cuts. Mr. Jitti forecasts that the global gold price could reach US$4,500 per ounce by year-end, with the Thai gold price hitting 70,000 baht per baht of gold.
The Gold Traders Association reported that today’s opening price was down 2,500 baht per baht of gold from the previous day, with the day experien
cing a total of 41 adjustments. The closing price was down 2,750 baht per baht of gold compared to yesterday. Currently, gold bars are selling for 63,500 baht, and gold ornaments are priced at 64,300 baht, based on the world gold price of $4,077 per ounce. Meanwhile, the baht weakened to 32.88 baht per dollar.
