Pedre±a: A gold statue of Seve Ballesteros, the legendary Spanish professional golfer and former world number one, has been stolen from its location in his hometown. Authorities are actively investigating the disappearance of this homage to one of golf's most celebrated figures.
According to Thai News Agency, the life-sized bronze statue, which was created in 2009, was situated in the village of Pedre±a, within the municipality of Marina de Gudello, Spain. The statue depicted Ballesteros in his iconic celebratory pose from his 1984 Open Championship victory. This piece has been a prominent feature in the village, commemorating Ballesteros' illustrious career and his impact on the sport.
Throughout his professional journey, Seve Ballesteros amassed 90 titles, including five major championships, with three Open Championships and two Masters tournaments. His achievements on the golf course have left an indelible mark on the sport, and his legacy continues to be celebrated even after his passing in 2011 due to brain cancer at the age of 54.
In addition to the statue, Ballesteros' contribution to the village of Pedre±a is also honored through the naming of the main street after him.
