Bangkok: The government is advancing its debt resolution efforts through a "fair" debt mediation program across northern and northeastern Thailand, successfully mediating debts for over 10,900 individuals and reducing their financial burden by over 1,310 million baht.

According to Thai News Agency, the Ministry of Justice has been organizing debt mediation events in these regions, effectively addressing the debt burden for over 10,900 individuals and saving citizens over 1,310 million baht.

Ms. Lalida Periswiwatana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed today that the government is prioritizing systematic solutions to tackle economic problems and public debt. Relevant agencies have been directed to expedite the implementation of concrete measures to assist the public.

The Ministry of Justice, through the Department of Legal Execution and provincial justice offices, has collaborated with over 47 financial institutions to organize more than 12 "Household Debt Resolution and Justice for the People" events. These initiatives aim to provide citizens with easier access to debt mediation and legal assistance.

Results indicate that over 20,000 people participated in the program, with 11,279 debtors requesting mediation. Of these, 10,919 cases were successfully mediated, resulting in a total settlement of over 3.2 billion baht and saving the public over 1.31 billion baht.

In the pre-litigation group, over 8,670 cases were successfully mediated, representing 96.74% of the cases. In the post-court judgment group, over 2,249 cases were mediated successfully, representing 97.07%. This reflects the positive cooperation between the government, financial institutions, and the public in sustainably resolving debt issues.

The government remains committed to continuing measures to address household debt, including mediation, debt restructuring, financial literacy, and ensuring justice. These efforts aim to help people regain economic stability and sustainability.
