Hot Weather and Scattered Thunderstorms Forecasted in Upper Thailand

Bangkok: The Meteorological Department reports that upper Thailand will experience hot weather during the day, accompanied by scattered thunderstorms and gusty winds. A warning has been issued for summer storms expected from March 11-13, 2026.

According to Thai News Agency, over the next 24 hours, the region will face potential thunderstorms and gusty winds due to a low-pressure system caused by heat. This is coupled with southerly and southeasterly winds bringing moisture from the South China Sea and the Gulf of Thailand. Residents in upper Thailand are advised to remain cautious of potential dangers from these weather conditions.

In the southern region, thunderstorms remain a possibility due to easterly and southeasterly winds influencing the Gulf of Thailand, the southern region, and the Andaman Sea. The Gulf of Thailand is experiencing wave heights of 1-2 meters, with areas affected by thunderstorms seeing waves exceed 2 meters. Mariners are advised to avoid sailing in affected areas.

From March 11-13, 2026, summer storms are anticipated in upper Thailand, characterized by thunderstorms, strong winds, hail, and heavy rainfall. Lightning strikes are also possible. This weather is attributed to a high-pressure system from China impacting the area, resulting in moisture-laden winds affecting northeastern, central, and eastern Thailand, as well as the Gulf of Thailand.

The accumulation of particulate matter remains moderate to high in the northern and central regions, including Bangkok, due to weak to moderate ventilation. The Meteorological Department has provided a detailed weather forecast for various regions in Thailand from 6:00 AM today to 6:00 AM tomorrow.

Northern Thailand will experience hot weather with a 10% chance of thunderstorms and gusty winds, particularly in provinces such as Mae Hong Son and Chiang Mai. In the northeastern region, provinces like Loei and Chaiyaphum may see similar conditions. Central Thailand, including Kanchanaburi and Nakhon Pathom, also has a 10% chance of thunderstorms.

Eastern Thailand, covering areas like Chonburi and Rayong, has a 20% chance of thunderstorms. The southern region, both east and west coasts, can expect a 20% chance of thunderstorms, with varying wave heights influenced by local winds.

In Bangkok and surrounding areas, hot weather is expected with a 10% chance of thunderstorms and gusty winds. Residents are advised to stay informed of weather updates and take necessary precautions.
