House Sets Date for Government’s Policy Statement Amid Time Allocation Agreement

Bangkok: The House of Representatives has confirmed the dates for the government’s policy statement, scheduling it for September 29-30.

According to Thai News Agency, the announcement followed a meeting chaired by President of the National Assembly Wan Muhammad Noor Matha. He led a session with the three-party joint whip, which includes the Cabinet, Members of Parliament, and Senators, to finalize the guidelines for the joint parliamentary meeting. This was in response to an urgent letter from Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who expressed readiness to present the policy statement to Parliament starting September 29, 2025.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to commence the debate at 9:00 a.m. on both days. However, the second day will see an early conclusion at 6:00 p.m. due to a special Cabinet meeting. The time allocation has been set with 3 hours designated for the Cabinet plus the coalition government and six senators, and 15 hours for the opposition coalition parties. Additionally, one hour is reserved for the president. Importantly, the time when the Prime Minister announces the policy will not be counted against the coalition government parties.

In terms of opposition time allocation, Mr. Pakornwut Udompipatsakul, the opposition whip, disclosed that an agreement has been reached with the Pheu Thai Party. Despite not being part of the opposition whip, the time will be evenly split: 9 hours for the opposition whip and 6 hours for the Pheu Thai Party.

Furthermore, the meeting touched upon a joint parliamentary session to discuss the draft constitutional amendment. The Bhumjaithai Party, the Prachachon Party, and the Pheu Thai Party have all submitted their drafts, with a meeting scheduled for October 14.
