Iran Prepares for Farewell Ceremony for Supreme Leader

Tehran: Iran is preparing to hold a final farewell ceremony for its supreme leader. A senior Iranian official revealed through state media that Iranian citizens are preparing to attend a funeral ceremony for the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in Tehran on Wednesday evening local time.

According to Thai News Agency, Hojjatoleslam Mahmoudi, head of the Coordinating Council for Islamic Propagation in Iran, stated that the farewell ceremonies will continue for three days. The schedule for the funeral procession will be announced later. The public will be allowed to pay their respects to the Supreme Leader at the Imam Khomeini Prayer Hall from 10:00 PM local time (1:30 AM Thursday in Thailand) to mourn and demonstrate their faith once again.

Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Iran's Supreme Leader who ruled with a hardline policy and a long-standing antagonistic stance towards the United States and Israel, died on Saturday at the age of 86 in an airstrike by Israeli and US forces.

Meanwhile, in Najaf, Iraq, yesterday, hundreds of people gathered for a symbolic funeral ceremony to express their sorrow and condemn the actions of the United States and Israel. The demonstrators rallied against the aggression and chanted slogans condemning the foreign forces that killed Iran's Supreme Leader.
