Tehran: The son of the Shah, Iran's ruler overthrown by the Islamic Revolution nearly 50 years ago, has called on Iranians to occupy city centers and strike in key sectors across the country.
According to Thai News Agency, Reza Pahlavi, the eldest son of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the last Shah of Iran, released a video from an undisclosed location via X on January 10th. Speaking in Farsi to the Iranian people, he stated that the goal was not just to take to the streets, but to seize the city center. He urged those working in key economic sectors, particularly transportation, oil, gas, and energy, to begin a nationwide strike. This followed his earlier release on January 9th in a video praising the Iranians who had taken to the streets across the country on the night of January 8th.
Pahlavi, 65, is currently in exile in the United States. He was the crown prince during his father's reign as Shah of Iran, from 1941. His father was the last Shah, overthrown in the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
