Bangkok: Transportation in Khon Kaen province is bustling as people gradually return to work. Khon Kaen's Third Bus Terminal is bustling with people carrying luggage as they wait to board buses to return to work in Bangkok and other provinces. Meanwhile, traffic on Mittraphap Road, heading out of Khon Kaen towards Nakhon Ratchasima, is starting to get congested.
According to Thai News Agency, on the last day of the long New Year holiday, Khon Kaen's Third Bus Terminal was bustling with activity as individuals, laden with luggage, waited to catch buses back to their workplaces in Bangkok and other provinces. The terminal area has been continuously busy from yesterday evening through to this morning. While many travelers had secured their tickets in advance, some opted for last-minute purchases. In response to the large crowds, bus companies have increased the number of trips to ensure passengers are not left behind.
On Mittraphap Road, which leads out of Khon Kaen towards Nakhon Ratchasima, and eventually back to Bangkok, traffic congestion is beginning to form, though vehicles are still progressing with some delays, particularly at traffic lights. Traffic authorities anticipate increased congestion later this evening.
The Asian Highway, particularly the stretch from the Ayutthaya interchange at kilometer marker 16 to the Bang Pa-in interchange, is experiencing a significant influx of vehicles, yet traffic flow remains steady, maintaining speeds between 90-100 kilometers per hour. Similarly, Phahonyothin Road through Wang Noi district into Bangkok, along with Highway 347 (Bang Pahan-Pathum Thani) and Highway 9 (Ayutthaya-Bang Bua Thong), are witnessing heavy traffic, but conditions allow for reasonable travel speeds.
