Bangkok: "Lawyer Aun" has raised significant concerns regarding the absence of serial numbers on the February 22nd election ballot papers, questioning the integrity of the election process. He has expressed support for Anutin, advocating for the legal overthrow of what he terms a rigged election, and is preparing to file a complaint with the Ombudsman. This complaint will investigate Anutin's ethical conduct in appointing Thammanat as a minister, the Khao Kradong land case, and the use of a sub-district administrative organization area in Pak Chong as a private runway.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Patarapong Supaaksorn, known as Lawyer Aun Buriram, alongside a group of reserve senators, has petitioned the Election Commission (EC) to clarify the use of different ballot types in the February 22nd re-election. Mr. Phatarapong admitted feeling embarrassed by media teasing for his frequent visits to the Election Commission, but stated the necessity due to unsettling news: Mr. Saeng Boonmee, the Election Commission Secretary-General, and his associates are allegedly planning to certify parliamentary election results with only 95% of votes counted. He highlighted multiple issues scrutinized by the public, particularly the absence of serial numbers on ballot stubs, potentially violating Article 129 of the Election Commission's regulations, which allows for codes or markings to prevent ballot forgery. He argued that the Election Commission had neglected its duty by omitting serial numbers, which would enable retrospective verification of votes. Despite this omission, he noted that cameras recorded every vote in Khan Na Yao district, Bangkok, potentially violating Article 85 of the Constitution. Concerns were also raised about the election results and the creation of the Terms of Reference for the February 22, 2026 ballot papers, questioning the Election Commission's activities.
Furthermore, Mr. Phatarapong plans to file a complaint with the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) against Mr. Saeng Boonmee and current Election Commission members. He stated indifference to their potential affiliations, seeking legal action from hundreds or thousands of complainants. He expressed support for Captain Thamanat, emphasizing unity against a rigged election, and is prepared to join him in opposition efforts to overthrow legally sanctioned elections.
When questioned about the potential violation of Election Commission regulations by observers in the February 22nd re-election, Mr. Phatarapong emphasized the duty of Thai citizens to monitor election legality. He insisted the election was confidential and offered support to anyone facing legal challenges from the Election Commission. Regarding photographic evidence of potential election secrecy breaches, he stressed the necessity of proof to demonstrate the election's lack of confidentiality to the public.
Mr. Phatarapong expressed a desire for the election to be declared void, warning that if the Election Commission announced results, it could constitute a Section 157 violation for neglecting official duties, potentially leading to a Constitutional Court petition by Members of Parliament and Senators.
Regarding an audio clip alleging negotiations between the Bhumjaithai Party and the Kla Tham Party, Mr. Phatarapong stated he was unaware but urged Captain Thamanat to release it if it exists, emphasizing the need to challenge the dirtiest election in history.
Additionally, Mr. Phatarapong announced plans to file a complaint with the Ombudsman, requesting an investigation into the appointment of Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, specifically Captain Thamanat Promphao as Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, questioning their qualifications. He cited Mr. Anutin's use of a private airport runway on public land in Pak Chong district for business benefits, seeking the Ombudsman's involvement in submitting an opinion to the Constitutional Court and appointing witnesses for Constitutional Court proceedings, accompanied by a public petition.
Addressing safety concerns, Mr. Phatarapong declared that in the event of any harm, he wished for media coverage of his death for 15 consecutive days to highlight his courage and determination, emphasizing his independence from political interests or whistleblower roles.
