Bangkok:First paragraph of the news story.
According to Thai News Agency, Lawyer Sittra Biabangkerd, known as "Lawyer Tum," has expressed his belief that Achariya Ruangratanapong will face significant challenges in securing bail. He humorously suggested that if Achariya does get bail, he should perform a traditional dance around the courthouse as a gesture of thanks.
Lawyer Tum has also initiated a project called "You Fall, We'll Kick You," encouraging victims to come forward and file additional charges. He shared that during a visit to the courthouse, he learned from an acquaintance that Achariya, currently held in a cell for new detainees, appeared stressed and agitated.
Reflecting on his own experience, Lawyer Tum noted that obtaining bail is often difficult in cases involving public fraud and money laundering. He cited his own denial of bail in an ordinary fraud case as an example of the court's stringent standards in such matters.
Encouraging others to participate in his project, Lawyer Tum urged those who were previously afraid to report crimes to take the opportunity now. He emphasized that offering advice would be more sincere than encouragement, especially given the circumstances Achariya is facing.
He further explained the procedures Achariya might encounter upon entering prison, including a body search and possible quarantine, which would complicate family visits. Lawyer Tum and others planned to be present to see Achariya off as he is transported to prison.
