Nakhon Ratchasima:The United States has initiated a series of cultural events in Thailand's northeastern hub of Nakhon Ratchasima, marking 250 years of American history and emphasizing the enduring diplomatic and economic relationships between the two nations.
According to Thai News Agency, US Ambassador Sean O'Neill launched the "Freedom 250: American Fair" in Korat, highlighting Thailand as America's oldest ally in Asia. The multi-day event is designed to offer local residents a traditional American state fair experience, complete with music, food, and exhibitions.
Ambassador O'Neill noted that the defense alliance between the US and Thailand enhances both countries' security, while their law enforcement partnership strengthens their nations. Korat was selected as the tour's starting location due to its strategic and historical importance in Thai-American relations. O'Neill mentioned significant historical infrastructure such as the Mittraphap Road (Friendship Highway) and the 200-Year Thai-American Friendship Trail in Khao Yai National Park. He also emphasized the province's pivotal role in hosting joint military exercises like Cobra Gold.
The fair showcases performances by a world champion local marching band, agricultural displays, and cultural exhibitions. After the events in Korat, the US embassy plans to continue the fair in Chiang Mai at the Chiang Mai Provincial Administrative Organization from October 16-18, and in Parc Paragon, Bangkok, from October 23-25.
