Lawyer Ronnarong Urges Public Prosecutor’s Office to Clarify Laser ID Process

Bangkok: Lawyer Ronnarong Kaewpetch has called for the Public Prosecutor's Office to provide a clear explanation regarding the collection of Laser IDs by the People's Democratic Party (PDP). He expressed concerns that the PDP could face dissolution again if the process remains shrouded in secrecy.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Ronnarong, who serves as the President of the Foundation for Campaigning for Justice in Society, addressed questions from reporters about the legality of the PDP's actions. He indicated that while the party's collection of Laser IDs from its members raises questions, it is primarily an internal matter. However, he stressed that any breach of party regulations must be clarified, noting that an inadequate explanation could lead to the party's dissolution.

In discussing the legal implications, Mr. Ronnarong mentioned the party's claim of having sought permission from the Department of Provincial Administration to collect Laser IDs. He questioned whether the PDP could proceed with the process while awaiting approval, describing their actions as clandestine and in need of justification. He expressed sympathy for the party leaders but remained uncertain about potential consequences, highlighting the necessity for a comprehensive explanation.
