Bangkok: Pheu Thai urges the Election Commission to quickly clarify election issues before recounting votes or holding a new vote. The party's secretary-general revealed that he has instructed candidates to thoroughly verify vote results after the Election Commission announced the final count.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Suksit Srijomkwan, spokesperson for the Pheu Thai Party, commented on the potential recount and new vote on Sunday, February 22nd, urging the Election Commission (EC) to clarify the facts to the public before proceeding with such a step. It was stated that society is currently questioning several aspects of the past election process, including discrepancies in the vote count in some polling stations, and the use of QR codes and barcodes, which have raised concerns among the public that they may undermine the principle of secret balloting.

"Before any recount or re-vote, the Election Commission should clearly explain all the details, including the accuracy of the figures, the verification methods, and measures to protect voting data. This is to assure the public that the entire process is transparent and does not infringe upon the rights of eligible voters," Mr. Suksit said.

A spokesperson for the Pheu Thai Party emphasized that providing clarity in advance is essential because allowing doubts to accumulate could affect public confidence in the overall democratic process. A spokesperson for the Pheu Thai Party also revealed that Mr. Prasert Chantharawongthong, the party's secretary-general, has instructed the party's constituency candidates to urgently verify the vote count results by polling station that the Election Commission is gradually releasing. They are to compare these results with photographs of the vote count taken on the actual day to confirm that the data entered into the system is accurate and to compile the information for the party to consider further action.

The Pheu Thai Party will closely monitor the Election Commission's work and continuously communicate information to the public to ensure that this election is fair, just, and free from any accusations.
