Maejo University Collaborates with Squash Association to Open New Sports Center

Bangkok: Maejo University has partnered with the Squash Association of Thailand to establish a new sports center in the northern region to support the upcoming Intellectual Games. This initiative marks a significant step towards enhancing the development of squash at both regional and national levels.

According to Thai News Agency, the collaboration was solidified through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by Associate Professor Dr. Weerapol Thongma, President of Maejo University, and Mr. Akrin Hiranpruk, Secretary-General of the Squash Association of Thailand and Vice President of the Southeast Asian Squash Federation. The signing took place at the squash courts located at the Chalermprakiat Sports Center within Maejo University.

The agreement aims to foster the growth of squash by developing personnel, supporting student activities, and promoting athletes to achieve international standards. As part of the MOU, Maejo University plans to establish the Northern Squash Sports Center and enhance four squash courts to meet competition standards. These facilities will serve as the venue for the squash events during the 51st Thailand University Games, “Inthanil Games 2026,” scheduled to be held at Maejo University from January 9-19, 2026.
