Bangkok: The mission of the “Majin Boo” SK-1000 giant backhoe has concluded after 24 days of work demolishing the collapsed Office of the Auditor General building, having successfully reached the ground level.
According to Thai News Agency, at the site of the new Office of the Auditor General of Thailand (OAG) building that collapsed, officials used trucks to transport the giant pink SK-1000 backhoe, known as Majin Boo, back to the company’s location after completing its demolition mission. The SK-1000 backhoe had been operational at the site from April 9, 2025, to May 1, 2025, totaling 24 days. Initially, the collapse left a scene approximately 27 meters high, equivalent to a 5-story building. To address this, officials deployed heavy machinery, including cranes and more than 20 backhoes, to assist in the search for missing bodies within the ruins.
The SK-1000, Thailand’s largest backhoe, was later employed to tackle the challenging task of excavating, drilling, clamping, and cutting through tangled steel bars and collapsed concrete wall panels, which had formed obstacles for the officials. Supported by Mr. Joe of Piyamit Group Co., Ltd., the SK-1000 was instrumental due to its substantial height and weight-bearing capacity, enabling the gradual reduction of the building’s height.
On April 30, officials successfully cleared the debris down to the building’s ground level. The remaining debris was situated underground, where smaller machinery could operate. The SK-1000, designed for high-elevation tasks, was thus returned to its company, while smaller backhoes continued the mission.
