Meteorological Department Issues Warning for Summer Storms in Eastern Thailand

Bangkok: The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for eastern parts of northern Thailand, northeastern Thailand, and eastern Thailand, forecasting summer storms characterized by thunderstorms, gusty winds, and lightning in some areas.

According to Thai News Agency, the department predicts that over the next 24 hours, these regions will face summer storms due to a high-pressure system or cold air mass moving from China over upper Laos and Vietnam. This system is expected to reach Northeastern Thailand and the South China Sea, bringing southerly and southeasterly winds with moisture to the affected areas. Residents are advised to avoid open spaces and unstable structures, while farmers should secure fruit trees and prepare for potential agricultural damage.

In the lower southern region, scattered thunderstorms are anticipated due to westerly winds over the Andaman Sea, southern Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand. Mariners are cautioned to avoid areas with thunderstorms, as waves in the Andaman Sea could exceed 2 meters.

The accumulation of particulate matter remains moderate to high across northern, northeastern, and upper central Thailand due to weak ventilation. The regional weather forecast indicates hot and hazy conditions with varying chances of thunderstorms across the country.
