Meteorology warns all of Thailand to brace for heavy rain and strong winds in some areas

The Meteorological Department warns the whole country to prepare for heavy to very heavy rain, strong winds in some areas, which may cause flash floods and forest runoff.

The Meteorological Department reported that Thailand will experience thunderstorms and strong winds in some areas. The Central region, including Bangkok and its vicinity, the East, and the South will experience very heavy rain in some areas. The lower Northeast will experience heavy rain in some areas. People in the aforementioned areas should beware of the dangers of thunderstorms, strong winds, heavy to very heavy rain, and accumulated rain that may cause flash floods and forest runoff, especially on hillsides near waterways and lowlands. Avoid being in open areas, under large trees, unstable buildings, and billboards. Also, take care of your health due to the changing weather conditions. This is because the monsoon trough is passing through the upper South and lower Central regions, entering a low-pressure cell in the East and upper Gulf
of Thailand. In addition, a high-pressure area or cold air mass from China has spread to cover upper Vietnam and the upper South China Sea. It is expected to spread to cover the upper Northeast today (October 19, 2024), resulting in easterly and southeasterly winds bringing moisture from the South China Sea and the Gulf of Thailand to cover the upper part of Thailand.

For the waves in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand, they are getting stronger. The Andaman Sea has waves 1-2 meters high, while the Gulf of Thailand has waves about 1 meter high. In areas with thunderstorms, the waves are higher than 2 meters. Sailors in the aforementioned areas are asked to sail with caution and avoid sailing in areas with thunderstorms.
