Mexico Sets New World Record with Largest Soccer Coaching Session

Mexico city: Mexico has made soccer history by hosting the world's largest soccer training event, with more than 9,500 participants, breaking the previous world record set by the United States last year.

According to Thai News Agency, the world's largest soccer training event took place yesterday in Zocalo Square in the heart of Mexico City. Over 9,500 people of all ages participated in a 40-minute basic soccer skills training session led by former Mexican national players and professional coaches. This event officially set a Guinness World Record, shattering the previous record set in Seattle, USA in 2015, which saw 1,038 participants.

This event is part of the build-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be the first time it's co-hosted by three countries: the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The tournament will take place from June 11th to July 19th. The opening match will be between Mexico and South Africa on June 11th at the Azteca Stadium, which will set a record as the first stadium in the world to host both the opening ceremony and the opening match of the World Cup three times (1970, 1986, and 2026).
