Bangkok: Nakhon Ratchasima: Mittraphap Road is seeing a significant increase in traffic as people begin their journey back to their hometowns, leading to congestion issues from kilometer 56-57 onwards.
According to Thai News Agency, individuals are gradually returning to their hometowns to resume work after the New Year holiday, with many opting to travel now to avoid a potential traffic surge if everyone returned simultaneously. Traffic on Mittraphap Road is steadily building up, resulting in congestion from kilometer 56-57, particularly at the interchange leading to Khao Yai in Pak Chong District. This congestion is primarily due to vehicles exiting the M6 motorway at Pak Chong (kilometer 4 on Thanarat Road) and merging onto Mittraphap Road, causing traffic to slow down across all lanes with speeds ranging between 60-80 km/h.
Additionally, another section of Mittraphap Road, at kilometer 52 in front of Chokchai Farm, Klang Dong Subdistrict, is experiencing heavy traffic. Although the terrain is winding and hilly, vehicles are managing to maintain speed without causing any congestion, despite all three lanes being occupied. Meanwhile, the M6 Motorway is also experiencing high traffic volumes but remains uncongested, allowing vehicles to maintain their speed.
