MSDHS and MOI Collaborate to Enhance Disability Access Through ‘ThaID’ App

Bangkok: The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (MSDHS) and the Ministry of Interior (MOI) have announced a joint initiative called 'MSDHS Near You,' designed to help individuals with disabilities access their rights through the innovative 'ThaID' app. This collaboration aims to make it easier for people with disabilities to access government welfare benefits efficiently and conveniently.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Kantapong Rangsisawang, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, stated that the MSDHS is working with the Department of Provincial Administration, Ministry of Interior, to develop the 'ThaID' application. This initiative is aimed at improving the quality of life for persons with disabilities by using digital technology to create equality, streamline procedures, and enhance access to rights and welfare benefits. The goal is for these individuals to effectively utilize these benefits in their daily lives. This marks a significant advancement in the application of digital technology to facilitate access for persons with disabilities.

Users can verify their digital disability identification card through the 'ThaID' app by following a few steps: Open the application, tap 'Documents' on the bottom bar, and select 'Disability Identification Card.' This feature will display the disability identification card information. If the option does not appear, users are advised to update the app via the App Store or Play Store.

Mr. Kantapong emphasized that people with disabilities can check their identification card information anytime via 'ThaID,' including card status, expiration date, and eligibility for government benefits, eliminating the need to carry a physical card. This enhances convenience and efficiency in coordinating with relevant agencies. He also urged individuals whose cards are nearing expiration to contact their local disability service center for renewal to continue receiving benefits. The Ministry plans to develop and link database systems for various government benefits, integrating data with relevant agencies. This will be paired with the "MSDHR Near You" mission to proactively deliver benefits to local areas, helping reduce expenses, generate income, and support the lives of people with disabilities and their families.
