Mae sai: Myanmar citizens flocked to refuel their vehicles on the Mae Sai side of Chiang Rai province after the Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge reopened, fearing the impact of the fighting in the Middle East. Residents of Mae Sai District, Chiang Rai Province, Thailand, and Tachilek Province, Myanmar, continue to refuel their cars and motorcycles at gas stations in Mae Sai. This is due to public concern in Myanmar over the situation in the Middle East, fearing that Thailand might stop exporting oil to neighboring countries and that Myanmar might face a fuel shortage.
According to Thai News Agency, following the opening of the Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge, Myanmar citizens brought their cars and motorcycles to Mae Sai district, aiming for various gas stations to refuel their vehicles and fill containers they had brought to stock up for emergencies.
In the Golden Triangle area of Chiang Saen district, the release of stranded oil tankers from the Ha Chiang port, a private port, is beginning. It is expected that this will alleviate the heavy volume of oil tankers currently awaiting export.
