Lopburi: The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) Region 1 has apprehended a nominee accused of facilitating benefits for a former Provincial Council member of Lopburi. The arrest took place on January 10th, involving allegations of manipulating bids using a limited partnership, which reportedly resulted in damages exceeding 3 million baht.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Surapong Intarathaworn, Deputy Secretary-General of the NACC, acting as the Secretary-General, directed the arrest team to collaborate with Phatthananikhom Police Station and the special operations unit of the Phatthananikhom District Administration. They executed the arrest of Mr. Jom (surname withheld) under arrest warrants issued by the Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Region 1, dated March 21, 2025. Mr. Jom faces charges under Section 151 read together with Section 86 of the Criminal Code, and Section 12 read together with the Act on Offenses Relating to Bidding for Government Contracts B.E. 2542 (1999).
The allegations claim that Mr. Jom registered Suriyamongkol Construction Limited Partnership as a managing partner without genuine commercial objectives. Instead, it was intended to act as a bidder to assist a partnership owned by a former Lopburi Provincial Council member in securing contracts with the Khao Noi Subdistrict Administrative Organization. The projects involved repairing laterite roads with budgets of 1,900,000 baht and 1,898,000 baht.
Before the arrest, investigators found Mr. Jom residing in Moo 10, Chong Sarika Subdistrict, Lopburi Province. After identifying themselves as NACC and police officers, they verified Mr. Jom's identity and presented the arrest warrant. He acknowledged being the subject of the warrant and was subsequently taken to Phatthananikhom Police Station for processing. He will be transferred to the Public Prosecutor's Office, Anti-Corruption Division, Region 1, for indictment before the Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases, Region 1.
