New Scammer Base Discovered 50 km From Poipet

Poipet: A new scammer base has been discovered 50 kilometers from Poipet in Cambodia, raising concerns about the ongoing battle against international fraud networks. This revelation comes amidst efforts to combat global scams, which have victimized individuals across the world.

According to Thai News Agency, the Anti-Online Fraud Center (ACSC) has identified this base in Malai City, Bancheun Meantay Province. The facility, situated near Malai National Park, is a two-story building currently undergoing expansion. It serves as both a workspace and living quarters for workers from various nationalities, including Thais, Indians, and Indonesians, all of whom are reportedly controlled by Chinese nationals. These individuals are involved in defrauding victims globally.

The discovery of this base follows a major crackdown along the borders of Thailand, China, and Myanmar, where significant scammer networks were dismantled. Operations such as "KK Park" and "Shwe Kokko" were disrupted, prompting call center networks to relocate. The ongoing conflict along the Thai-Cambodian border is hastening the relocation of these criminal groups further inland into Cambodia, highlighting the growing severity and complexity of these scams.

The ACSC emphasizes the need for international cooperation to exert pressure and eliminate these fraudulent activities. The Acting Social Security Center is preparing to discuss and implement additional measures to prevent further scams.

Additionally, the ACSC released statistics on scam cases and damages for the week of December 28, 2025, to January 3, 2026. During this period, there were 6,369 cases reported through Thaipoliceonline, with damages exceeding 222 million baht. Online shopping scams were the most prevalent, followed by schemes involving money transfers for extra income and prize offerings. An increase in scam cases was noted on January 2-3, indicating a potential rise in online threats as the work term begins.
