Bangkok: The Speaker of the House is aware that the opposition and senators are preparing to submit a petition to the Supreme Court to investigate the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC). He emphasized the importance of verifying any petition before proceeding, clarifying that no proposal has been formally submitted yet. The Speaker affirmed his dedication to executing his responsibilities fairly.
According to Thai News Agency, House Speaker Sophon Saram, who also serves as President of the Parliament, addressed the move by opposition MPs and independent Senators to request a Supreme Court investigation into the NACC's dismissal of a complaint against former Minister of Transport Saksayam Chidchob for alleged false asset declarations. Although he has been informed about the potential petition, Mr. Saram noted that no official proposal has been received. He dismissed concerns about potential delays in the investigation, suggesting that such worries are speculative and urged patience until the proposal is formally presented.
Mr. Saram reiterated his commitment to fairness, stating that his vision during the election of the House Speaker was to perform his duties fairly. He explained his reluctance to use the term "impartial," as perceptions of impartiality can vary depending on individual viewpoints. Ultimately, he expressed confidence that a reasonable assessment would prevail in deciding the matter.
