Over 1 Million Thais Register for Advance Voting in Upcoming Election

Bangkok: The Election Commission of Thailand (ECT) has announced that more than 1 million people have registered for advance voting after a 14-day registration period.

According to Thai News Agency, the ECT has detailed that a total of 1,047,661 individuals have signed up to vote early, both within and outside their electoral districts. This registration period spanned from December 20, 2025, to January 2, 2026. Breakdown of the registrations reveals that 4,757 people are set to vote within their electoral district, 960,871 have opted to vote outside their district, and 82,033 individuals have registered to vote overseas.

The registration caters to citizens who have essential business commitments preventing them from voting on February 8th, those living outside Thailand, and officials appointed for duties on election day. The registration window remains open until January 5, 2026.

For those who have registered for advance voting but later decide not to or are unable to participate on February 1, 2026, due to ineligibility in the referendum, there is an option to cancel their advance voting registration. These individuals will then have the opportunity to vote in the general election alongside the referendum on February 8, 2026.
