Renunakhon: Supachai Jaisamut, a Bhumjaithai Party list candidate, has refuted claims made by Monporn Charoensri regarding the alleged misdirection of a 10,000 baht digital currency into the "Half-Price Plus" scheme. He has insisted that the project was halted during the Paetongtarn administration and has announced plans to file a complaint with the Election Commission on grounds of defamation and damage to his reputation. According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Supachai addressed the issue in Renunakhon District, Nakhon Phanom Province, following a statement made by Ms. Monporn, a Pheu Thai Party candidate and former Deputy Minister of Transport. Monporn had claimed that the 10,000 baht digital currency project under the Paetongtarn government failed due to the budget being redirected to the "Half-Price Plus" project. Mr. Supachai argued that this was misinformation that misled the public. Mr. Supachai clarified that the digital wallet project was suspended during Ms. Paetongtarn's leadership due to objections from several agencies, including the National Economic and Social Development Council, the National Anti-Corruption Commission, and the Council of State, who were concerned about potential legal violations. As a result, the project could not proceed, and alternative initiatives were considered. He further explained that Monporn's campaign speeches have led the public to misunderstand that the current administration, under Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, had diverted funds from the Digital Wallet project to the Co-Pay Plus project, which he claims is untrue. Supachai emphasized that the Digital Wallet project had already been discontinued and that Monporn, who was a minister at that time, was aware of its suspension. Mr. Supachai stated that Monporn's public speeches amount to defamation, potentially influencing voters against the Bhumjaithai Party, which he considers a violation of election laws. Dr. Alongkot Maneekas, the party's candidate for Nakhon Phanom, will file a complaint with the Director of Elections fo r Nakhon Phanom Province. Additionally, the Bhumjaithai Party plans to file a complaint with the Central Election Commission, asserting that they are victims of defamation through false statements that mislead the public regarding the party's popularity. Supachai affirmed the party's commitment to pursuing legal action against all election law violations impacting the party or its candidates.
