Parliament Awaits Anutin’s Second Cabinet Oath Before Setting Policy Statement Date

Bangkok: Parliament is currently awaiting the oath of office from Anutin's second cabinet, dubbed "Anutin 2," before coordinating a date for the government's policy statement. The Secretary-General of Parliament has assured that all preparations are in place for a joint session.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Siroj Paetpan, Secretary-General of the House of Representatives, provided an update on the status of the government's policy statement. He noted that there has been no coordination from the Secretariat of the new Cabinet regarding the submission of the draft policy statement to the Secretariat of the House of Representatives. This is expected to occur after the new Cabinet takes its oath of office in a royal audience with His Majesty the King, scheduled for April 6, 2026.

Following the oath, the Prime Minister is expected to send a letter to the President of Parliament, indicating the government's readiness to present its policy statement. Discussions will then take place to determine a suitable date for the policy presentation. The Prime Minister has assured that the Secretariat of the House of Representatives is prepared to organize the meeting, whenever it is set. By regulation, a policy statement is deemed urgent and important, allowing a meeting date to be arranged within one day of receiving the draft.

Once received, the draft policy statement will be published on the parliamentary website. Members may receive a physical copy on the meeting day, or for faster distribution, it may be provided via a QR code.

The Secretariat of the Parliament has a regular session planned for April 8th to address the PM2.5 dust pollution issue, continuing from the previous meeting. A joint parliamentary session scheduled for April 9th has been canceled, pending further notice. If needed, an immediate notice can be sent for a session on April 8th.
