Parliament Completes Its Roster with 500 Members After New MPs Sworn In

Bangkok: The Parliament is now complete with a full roster of 500 members following the swearing-in of five new Members of Parliament (MPs).

According to Thai News Agency, the oath-taking ceremony for the new MPs took place during a House of Representatives meeting chaired by Speaker Sophon Saram. Before proceeding with the meeting's agenda, Speaker Sophon informed the assembly about the Election Commission's (EC) announcement concerning the results of the constituency-based parliamentary elections, which included the election of Mr. Nattawut Prasertsukwan from Constituency 2, Suphan Buri, representing the Bhumjaithai Party.

Speaker Sophon also announced the resignation of several Bhumjaithai Party list MPs: Ms. Traisuli Traisaranakul, Ms. Suphamas Isarabhakdi, Mr. Varawut Silpa-archa, and Mr. Ekanat Promphan. Their departure necessitated the promotion of the next MPs on the list to replace them, namely Mr. Piti Pitutecha, Mr. Pibul Ratchakitprakarn, Mr. Pongsakorn Arnnoporn, and Ms. Siriwan Prasatchatru.

The announcement was made prior to the new MPs taking their oaths of office, confirming that Parliament now has a total of 500 members. The quorum for parliamentary meetings remains at a minimum of 250 members.
