Bangkok: The Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) has once again showcased its commitment to social and environmental responsibility by securing the prestigious Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards 2026 (AREA) for the eighth consecutive year. This recognition underscores PEA's dedication to sustainability reporting and corporate governance.
According to Thai News Agency, PEA received accolades in three distinct categories at the awards ceremony held at the Grand Ballroom, Intercontinental Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. These included the Social Empowerment category, the Corporate Sustainability Reporting category, and the Corporate Governance category. Each award highlights a different aspect of PEA's ongoing efforts to improve societal outcomes and maintain ethical governance.
The Social Empowerment Award was bestowed upon PEA for its "Support for the Phu Bodin Foundation under Royal Patronage" project. This initiative aims to fulfill the royal aspirations by enhancing community development in Kanchanaburi Province, especially in remote areas beyond the reach of the national power grid. By equipping households with solar power generation systems and essential safety devices, the project not only bridges infrastructure gaps but also bolsters education, healthcare, and employment opportunities while safeguarding natural resources.
PEA's 2024 Sustainability Development Report earned the Corporate Sustainability Reporting category award. This accolade is a testament to PEA's adherence to the international GRI Standards, ensuring comprehensive disclosure of its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance. The report exemplifies PEA's commitment to transparency and accountability, aligned with international best practices.
In the Corporate Governance category, the 'Coloring Dreams, Fighting Corruption' project garnered recognition for its efforts in promoting ethical values and combating corruption. This initiative, a collaboration with the Anti-Corruption Foundation, engages youth and communities through educational activities, including drawing competitions and symbolic gestures at schools nationwide, to foster a culture of integrity.
