According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Peerapan Salirathavipak, leader and prime ministerial candidate of the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party, along with Mr. Chatchawan Kongudom, party secretary-general, and Mr. Atthawich Suwannabhakdi, deputy party leader, led a team of Bangkok parliamentary candidates to meet with Mr. Mana Nimitmongkol, chairman of the Anti-Corruption Organization (Thailand), at the Sri Chulathap Building. They submitted a letter and signed a pledge declaring their commitment to combating corruption, in line with the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party's stance emphasizing decisiveness in national governance and honesty and integrity under the campaign "Vote 6, No Lies."
Mr. Peerapan stated regarding the approach to combating corruption, a chronic problem in the country, that this problem cannot be solved through compromise but requires strong measures and rigorous law enforcement. He highlighted that the problem of corruption in Thailand is expanding due to a lack of fear of punishment and lengthy investigation processes, sometimes taking up to 10 years. To address this, he proposed increasing the punishment to the level of the death penalty as a deterrent and amending laws to expedite trial processes, aiming to complete them within one year.
Mr. Peerapan also emphasized the need to reduce the possibility of granting royal pardons to ensure decisive punishment, asserting that strong measures are necessary to prevent further damage to the country. He pointed out that the nation has already suffered 3.8 trillion baht in damages from corruption and stressed the importance of serious and decisive actions to resolve the issue. He assured that the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party's parliamentary candidates are committed to maintaining their integrity and not engaging in corruption.
Mr. Atthawich Suwannaphakdi added that addressing the economic crisis and livelihood issues requires decisive measures. He cited past achievements in reducing energy prices as evidence of their capability. He emphasized the need for immediate actions, such as reducing electricity costs and deleting negative credit bureau accounts upon full payment, to support working people in rebuilding their lives.
Mr. Peerapan concluded that the event signaled the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party's readiness to implement decisive policies to build confidence and lead the country towards a stable future. The pledge signing also marked the unveiling of the party's flagship symbol, "Slaying the Wicked," inspired by the legendary Bao Zheng story, symbolizing the commitment to integrity and justice. This symbol will stand as a reminder to all politicians and civil servants to uphold moral standards and work for the nation's best interests.
