Bangkok: Campaign leaders and assistants of the People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) continue to spread out for campaigning. Party leaders and campaign assistants continued their campaigning efforts. Wiroj led the Pathum Thani candidate on a campaign to combat illicit funding and scammers, while Thanathorn was accompanied by the Lampang candidate, focusing on solving water problems.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Viroj Lakkhanadisorn, a candidate for Member of Parliament (list system), along with Mr. Chetawan Tueprakhon, a candidate for Member of Parliament from the People's Party, representing Pathum Thani Province, Constituency 5 (Khu Khot-Lam Sam Kaeo-Lak Hok-Ban Mai), number 3, campaigned and extended New Year greetings to vendors and shoppers at the Nanacharoen Market in Khukhot Subdistrict.
Mr. Chetwan stated that Constituency 5 in Pathum Thani Province is the constituency with the most parliamentary candidates in the province. However, based on his past achievements in both local work and parliamentary debates, he is confident that the public trusts him and wants him to continue their work. For example, during his visit to the Nanacharoen market today, people asked him about his previous proposal to transform the Thupatemi Golf Course into a public park. He emphasized that this will remain a key issue he will prioritize if his party forms a government.
Mr. Viroj stated that he had worked with Chetwan since their time in the Future Forward Party. Later, they worked even more closely together on the House Committee on Military Affairs and the Special Committee considering the Military Court Act. He said Chetwan was a very dedicated worker and someone who dared to confront problems. He believes Chetwan will fully contribute to the fight against illicit funds, scammers, and call center gangs.
In the northern region, Mr. Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit, a campaign assistant for the People's Party, campaigned with Ms. Suwipa Kusoljoong, the candidate for Member of Parliament in Lampang Constituency 2, number 2. They began by walking through the morning market in Wang Nuea District, greeting the public. Conversations with the people revealed that Lampang's major problems are water issues, including cloudy and intermittent tap water, and insufficient water for agriculture. Mr. Thanathorn stated that Ms. Suwipa is a candidate who will surely address the needs of Lampang residents, as she is an engineer from the Progressive Movement team, responsible for successfully improving local water supply systems nationwide.
This involves allocating an annual budget of 60 billion baht for water management, focusing on job creation and promoting Thai private sector development of Thai water management technologies. Through collaborative efforts in developing tap water and agricultural water resources in various localities, it was found that local administrative organizations (LAOs) are best positioned to determine the most suitable water resource development for each area, but they often lack sufficient funding. Initially, the People's Party government will allocate funds to support sub-basin management for LAOs, such as 2-3 million baht per LAO per year. However, this requires a planning process and approval from all LAOs in the sub-basin. A team of experts will assist in creating community water plans, developing strategies, and evaluating the overall impact on the sub-basin.
Regarding the flooding issue, please look at Lamphun as an example. We only took over the administration for half a year, but we were able to effectively manage the floods by assisting the Provincial Administrative Organization in upgrading flood monitoring data, which enabled us to drain water promptly.
Subsequently, Thanathorn campaigned with Dr. Bond Suriya, candidate number 7 for Constituency 4, the same constituency where the People's Party had previously won. Later, the original candidate, Ms. Rapassorn Niyamosath, married a Pheu Thai Party MP and switched to running under the Pheu Thai Party banner in this election.
Mr. Thanathorn said that Dr. Bond, the People's Party's candidate, is a knowledgeable and capable person, a doctor who chose to enter politics hoping to use his knowledge to serve the people. However, he has very little time to campaign because the dissolution of parliament happened sooner than expected. Therefore, he must work quickly in the area. District 4 is a very large district, but they will make the most of every day, visiting as many people as possible. He asked the people to be understanding and give Dr. Bond, number 2, a chance.
In the 2023 general election, Lampang was one of the provinces where the Move Forward Party won almost all of its constituency seats, namely constituencies 1, 3, and 4. Only constituency 2 was retained by Thanathorn Lohsuntorn, heir to a prominent Lampang political family from the Pheu Thai Party.
