People’s Party Apologizes Following Candidate’s Imprisonment for Rape

Maha sarakham: The People's Party has issued a public apology to the rape victim after their parliamentary candidate was imprisoned following a Supreme Court ruling. Parit Wacharasindhu, the party's spokesperson, acknowledged the shortcomings in the candidate selection process and emphasized the need for reform.

According to Thai News Agency, Parit Wacharasindhu commented on the Supreme Court's decision, which led to the termination of the candidate's status and party membership. He recognized this conviction as an indicator of the urgent need for the People's Party to scrutinize and improve their vetting procedures for candidates. He took full responsibility on behalf of the party and extended a formal apology to the victim, recognizing that the candidate's previous actions were unjust.

In a related matter concerning the Lamphun Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO), where another People's Party candidate serves as president, Parit Wacharasindhu addressed concerns over budget appropriateness for producing a calendar. He stated that while he agrees that budget usage should be scrutinized, he is still awaiting the facts and will offer further clarification if needed.
