Bangkok: “Ekkanat” confirms that the Phalang Pracharath Party has not experienced any division, addressing concerns about MPs photographed with Deputy Minister of Commerce, Suchart Chomklin. He reassures that the meeting was merely a casual dinner and dismisses rumors of regulatory amendments as threats to party members. The issue of potential cabinet adjustments is left to the Prime Minister’s discretion.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Ekkanat Promphan, Minister of Industry and Secretary-General of the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party (RTSC), acknowledged ongoing discussions regarding internal party matters, emphasizing open communication with MPs to resolve any misunderstandings. He insisted that the party remains strong, addressing concerns about MPs photographed with Mr. Suchart Chomklin, reassuring that it was a mere dinner gathering.
Mr. Ekkanat also tackled the issue of alleged pressure on Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister Pirapan Salirathavibhaga to step down as party leader. He acknowledged t
he challenges faced by Mr. Pirapan due to his high-ranking position but expressed confidence in Mr. Pirapan’s ability to handle them. Regarding Mr. Pirapan’s involvement in the relief bag case under scrutiny by the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), Mr. Ekkanat affirmed Mr. Pirapan’s readiness to provide explanations to the NACC and other relevant agencies.
On the topic of the rumored cabinet reshuffle, Mr. Ekkanat stated that he remains committed to his ministerial duties and understands that any changes fall under the Prime Minister’s authority. He clarified that neither he nor Mr. Pirapan had received any indication from the Prime Minister about a reshuffle, maintaining a positive working relationship with the leadership.
Addressing amendments to party regulations, Mr. Ekkanat explained that changes were made earlier in the year to align with the constitution, and not as a reactionary measure to current events. He denied any intention to intimidate party members and confirmed that annual adjustm
ents are routine to clarify regulations.
When asked about resolving issues with Mr. Suchart, Mr. Ekkanat mentioned that discussions had not yet occurred, but he remained open to meeting soon.
