Phetchaburi Railway Overpass Construction Nears Completion

Phetchaburi: The Department of Highways is in the final stages of constructing an overpass across the railway in Phetchaburi, with the project currently 86% complete and anticipated to be finished by May.

According to Thai News Agency, the Department of Rural Roads is focused on enhancing public safety and transportation efficiency by supporting land and rail transit, preventing accidents, and reducing losses.

The Department of Rural Roads (DRR) has embarked on constructing an overpass at the railway crossing of Rural Highway No. PhB.1010. This project connects Highway No. 4 to Ban Nong Rong in the Cha-am District of Phetchaburi Province. It aims to mitigate accidents at railway crossings while improving public safety and transportation efficiency. The initiative also supports future double-track railway projects, ensuring faster and more convenient transport.

Mr. Pichit Hunsiri, Director-General of the Department of Rural Roads, highlighted the Department's responsibility for 153 roads nationwide that intersect with railway lines. In Phetchaburi province, an overpass is being constructed at a critical railway crossing point on a rural highway. The project, named "Route 1010 Intersection, Highway 4 - Ban Nong Rong, Cha-am District, Phetchaburi Province," spans a length of 1,006.962 meters, with a reinforced concrete bridge structure featuring two lanes and shoulders.

The project includes connecting roads with asphalt concrete surfaces and the installation of safety equipment and signage. With a total construction budget of 124.290 million baht, the project is progressing ahead of schedule. The bridge structure has been completed, and the focus is now on installing safety equipment and signs. The completion and opening to the public are expected to occur in May of this year.
