Pheu Thai Candidate Urges End to Harassment on Campaign Posters

Bangkok: A Pheu Thai Party parliamentary candidate for the Bang Na-Phra Khanong district is calling for an end to the harassment involving the writing of numbers on campaign posters. Mr. Kaweewong Yuwichit, who is running for Member of Parliament in the district as candidate number 11, expressed concerns about the confusion this act could cause among the public.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Kaweewong discovered the issue when numbers associated with other candidates or political parties were found scribbled on his campaign posters in various locations. He mentioned that such actions could mislead voters and disrupt the electoral process.

Mr. Kaweewong has taken initial steps by coordinating with local police to examine CCTV footage from the areas where the incidents occurred. This effort aims to identify those responsible and possibly pursue legal action to prevent future occurrences.

He emphasized that fair elections are integral to democracy, highlighting the importance of the "one vote, one voice" principle, which ensures citizens can make informed decisions about their representatives. Mr. Kaweewong urged that political competition should focus on policies and ideas rather than tactics that create confusion or misunderstandings.

Mr. Kaweewong appealed to all parties involved to stop such practices and to work towards a fair and transparent election process. He stressed the need to avoid adding to societal conflicts, urging for a constructive electoral environment.
