Bangkok: The Pheu Thai Party has made a significant strategic move by appointing Chaturon Chaisang as Chairman of the Party Strategy Committee, aiming to rejuvenate the party and solidify its role in promoting democracy. The announcement was made by party leader Chulaphan Amornvivat along with other core leaders, highlighting the committee’s objective of merging experienced senior figures with emerging politicians to propel the party towards success in the forthcoming elections.
According to Thai News Agency, Chaturon emphasized that the Strategy Committee’s primary missions are to develop long-term strategies and prepare for the elections. He clarified that this committee is not a “new headquarters” for the party but a support mechanism for the Executive Committee. The committee’s goal is to urgently assess and determine the party’s political direction while strengthening its democratic role and public policy initiatives.
The committee faces the challenge of identifying weaknesses that have hindered the party’s performance in polls and swiftly adjusting strategies using scientific data. Confidence is high that the blend of experience from veteran members and the innovative input from the younger generation and academic team will restore the Pheu Thai Party to prominence in the election landscape, positioning it as a major force in addressing national issues over the long term.
The Pheu Thai Party Strategy Committee consists of 17 members. Chaturon Chaisang serves as the Chairman, with advisors including Chulaphan Amornvivat, Phumtham Wechayachai, Suriya Jungrungreangkit, and Somsak Thepsuthin. Vice Chairmen include Chusak Sirinil, Dr. Cholanan Srikaew, Suthin Khlangsaeng, and Wisut Chainarun. Other members are Dr. Prommin Lertsuriyadet, Kriang Kalptinan, Sorawong Thianthong, Mrs. Manop Charoensri, and Ms. Jiraporn Sinthuprai. Prasert Chantharawongthong functions as director and secretary, while Chanin Rungthanakiat and Ms. Walinthiphon Warinwatcharoj are directors and assistant secretaries.
