Bangkok: The Pheu Thai Party has unveiled the identity of a former provincial councilor, Anon Thanomwong, who recorded an audio clip of "Prakas Sakda," raising concerns about potential violations of election laws. They plan to file a formal complaint with the Election Commission to investigate and potentially prosecute those involved, while also verifying if the clip was created using artificial intelligence.
According to Thai News Agency, the Pheu Thai Party addressed the issue at a press conference, highlighting the content of the leaked audio clip, which surfaced during the election campaign. The clip allegedly contains discussions asserting dominance and hints at government formation, which might breach election laws. The press conference was led by Mr. Chusak Sirinil, Deputy Leader of the Pheu Thai Party, accompanied by Mr. Phanom Pho-kaew, a parliamentary candidate from Kanchanaburi Province, and Anon Thanomwong, the individual responsible for recording the audio.
Mr. Chusak emphasized that the clip includes numerous statements that could potentially violate election laws. Following the release of the clip, mentioned individuals filed a police report, alleging that the clip might have been artificially generated. To address these allegations, the party invited Mr. Anon Thanomwong and Mr. Phanom Phothikaew to speak at the press conference.
Anon Thanomwong recounted that the recording took place on December 22, 2025, when a former Subdistrict Administrative Organization chairman visited him, claiming the call was from the mentioned individual. Anon recorded the conversation as he had heard rumors of threats during the election campaign. He later shared the video with friends to determine its legality. Anon clarified that he recorded the call himself, believing it was an attempt to leverage his network for electoral gain, despite having no prior communication with the involved party.
Mr. Phanom Phothikaew expressed that the release of the video had caused him political damage. He quoted the clip, stating, "The accused's party will definitely form the government, while my party will be in opposition," which led his supporters to reconsider their stance, fearing that their votes would be ineffective. This shift in perception has impacted his popularity.
Mr. Chusak further explained that Mr. Phanom had reported the incident to the party, prompting them to conclude that the actions involved multiple breaches of election laws, including defamation and misleading voters, in violation of Section 73 of the Election Act.
In response, the Pheu Thai Party's executive committee decided to file a complaint with the Election Commission for a thorough investigation. Mr. Norawich La-laeng, a candidate for the party-list MP position, has been tasked with submitting the complaint and providing supporting evidence.
Mr. Norawich mentioned that the audio and its transcripts serve as critical evidence in the case. The possibility of the offense being connected to the party level remains under evaluation. He urged the Election Commission to validate the authenticity of the clip and determine if it was produced using AI technology.
