Bangkok: Yotchanan Wongsawat and Julaphan Amornvivat of the Pheu Thai Party expressed optimism about drawing ballot number 9 for the upcoming elections, citing it as an auspicious and memorable number that facilitates easy communication with the public. This sentiment was echoed during an interview following the number draw, where Yotchanan highlighted the significance of the number in their campaign strategy.
According to Thai News Agency, Julaphan recalled a similar experience during the Thai Rak Thai era under Thaksin Shinawatra, where drawing number 9 led to a substantial victory. He noted that such a number historically brings success, referencing the 377 votes achieved in 2005. Suriya Jungrungruangkit, another Pheu Thai candidate, expressed confidence in securing at least 200 seats in the upcoming elections, suggesting that such a number would be optimal for maintaining political alliances.
Yotchanan emphasized that the number 9 aligns with their policy of moving Thailand forward and overcoming conflicts. The party aims to communicate its policies effectively, ensuring they resonate with the public. In terms of campaign plans, Julaphan mentioned that Pheu Thai has organized a series of nationwide events and debates to engage with voters and promote their platform.
Addressing concerns from recent NIDA poll results in Nakhon Ratchasima province, Julaphan stated that the party remains a strong contender with a significant portion of undecided voters. He expressed confidence in retaining support across the province, despite recent fluctuations in approval ratings.
Regarding a conversation with Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, Julaphan clarified that it was a customary exchange of greetings. Yotchanan added that discussions about forming future coalitions would depend on aligning policies with potential partners, emphasizing the importance of public support in such decisions.
