Nakhon ratchasima: A life-saving intervention unfolded on a pedestrian overpass in Nakhon Ratchasima as police successfully rescued a young woman who was on the verge of jumping off the bridge. The incident, which occurred in the early hours, was spurred by an argument with her boyfriend, leading her to contemplate suicide.
According to Thai News Agency, the police were alerted to the situation when they noticed the distraught woman, who appeared intoxicated and was crying as she ascended the overpass. The officers, stationed at a temporary checkpoint on Mittraphap Road, swiftly responded as the woman sat precariously on the railing, ready to leap. The police officer's body-worn camera captured the tense moments as they tried to calm her, offering help and urging her to talk.
The rescue operation was meticulously planned, with officers below engaging in negotiations while another team discreetly approached her from behind. Their quick thinking and coordinated efforts culminated in pulling the woman to safety, much to the relief of those who witnessed the dramatic scene unfold.
The woman, a 31-year-old resident of Cho Ho Subdistrict in Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima District, later revealed that a heated argument with her boyfriend had driven her to such a desperate measure. Thankfully, the timely intervention by the police prevented a tragedy. Her relatives were subsequently contacted to ensure she received the support and care needed upon returning home.
