Bangkok: A poll indicates that the public has confidence in Ekanat's ability to solve energy problems, reduce the cost of living, and inspire hope that he will boost the government's popularity.
According to Thai News Agency, Dr. Chanvich Ariyawaronan, Acting Director of Super Poll Research Institute, discussed the results of a survey on "Public Confidence in Mr. Ekanat Promphan, Minister of Energy." The study, conducted between April 22-25, sampled 1,259 people from all walks of life nationwide. It reflects the significant dynamic of the relationship between "policy performance" and "public perception" in the context of energy issues, a structural problem directly impacting the quality of life of a wide range of people. The majority of the public (89.6%) desire structural solutions to energy problems, particularly a continuous reduction in energy prices.
Furthermore, the survey called for transparent disclosure of energy pricing structures at a level of 84.3 percent. It also found that the public had a high to very high level of confidence in the Minister of Energy at 67.9 percent, and a moderate level of confidence at 21.4 percent. This means that more than four out of five people had a moderate to high level of confidence.
Furthermore, the survey results indicate that the majority of the public perceives the ministers positively, particularly in terms of their seriousness in their work (77.1%) and their dedication to solving national and public problems (74.2%). These are considered moral qualities that play a crucial role in building long-term trust.
Regarding "perception of performance," the survey found that 73.8% of the public were aware of measures related to reducing fuel prices, and 70.5% were aware of the government's hands-on approach to addressing problems. This reflects a perception of "practical leadership," emphasizing action and direct problem-solving. Furthermore, awareness of reducing electricity costs, reforming the energy structure, and ensuring transparency and accountability in operations were all above 60%. The majority of the public has begun to have a satisfactory level of confidence in the work of the Minister of Energy and perceives his intentions and proactive, concrete actions.
However, this confidence comes with high expectations, presenting both opportunities and challenges for future energy policy-making. Specifically, if this confidence can be translated into tangible results perceived by the public in their daily lives, it will lead to enhanced trust and long-term policy stability for the government.
Dr. Thanaset Akkhanyaphudis, Head of Research at Siam Technopoll Research Institute, Siam Technology College, revealed the results of a survey on public satisfaction with Mr. Ekanat and the need for alternative energy sources. The project was conducted between April 24-25, 2026, with a total of 1,089 respondents. The survey found that 81.2% of respondents expected a reduction in electricity and fuel prices from the Ministry of Energy, and 75.4% expected the ministry to address energy hoarding, ensuring transparency and accountability.
Furthermore, when asked what the public was "satisfied with" regarding Mr. Ekanat Promphan, the Minister of Energy, 65.1% were satisfied with the policies to reduce electricity and fuel costs, and 61.2% were satisfied with his proactive approach, bold thinking, and efficient work ethic - a "team that goes all the way" approach. Regarding overall satisfaction with the image of Mr. Ekanat, the Minister of Energy, 62.5% were satisfied.
