Port Authority of Thailand Assures Stability Amid Middle East Tensions

Bangkok: The Port Authority of Thailand (PAT) confirms that the situation in the Middle East will not affect Thailand's shipping operations. The PAT assures that port operations continue to function as normal while it closely monitors developments in the Middle East. This region's current conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran has led to volatility in international energy markets and maritime transport costs, potentially impacting international shipping route management.

According to Thai News Agency, the PAT has stated that all ports under its supervision, including Bangkok Port, Laem Chabang Port, Chiang Saen Commercial Port, Chiang Khong Port, and Ranong Port, are operating normally. The PAT has implemented clear port management systems and emergency response plans to ensure uninterrupted vessel activities and cargo handling.

The PAT maintains close coordination with shipping lines, agents, port operators, and relevant agencies, utilizing real-time shipping data to monitor international shipping routes. This coordination allows the PAT to flexibly manage port facilities and resources, minimizing any potential impact on cargo transportation if route or schedule changes occur.

Sub-Lieutenant Rattakorn Khiaopaisan, Deputy Director of the PAT for Finance and Corporate Strategy, acting as the Director, emphasized that PAT's services remain operational around the clock, with no impact on its core mission of facilitating imports and exports. Service rates and charges are unchanged, and the PAT is actively assessing risks to maintain the stability of Thailand's waterway logistics system.

Thailand's infrastructure, management systems, and collaboration with the private sector in the maritime industry are designed to handle international fluctuations. The PAT prioritizes safety and service continuity to build confidence among operators and users across all sectors.

The PAT is committed to ongoing monitoring and is prepared to provide stakeholders with accurate and complete information, ensuring the stability of the country's maritime transport system and confirming that core services remain unaffected.
