Prime Minister Anutin Addresses Samsen Road Collapse Concerns

Bangkok: The Prime Minister visited the area where Samsen Road collapsed late at night and said it was not the time to blame anyone. The contractor will announce the exact time the road will be restored at 11:00 a.m. The Prime Minister acknowledged that the most challenging problems to address are the volume of landslides and the tunnel repairs, which could lead to collapses. He also addressed the structural issues surrounding power lines and the safety of surrounding buildings. These are urgent matters, and those responsible are aware of them. He stated that efforts must be made urgently to stop the water and seal off any leaks. He acknowledged his concern that the rain could lead to more landslides and emphasized efforts to fill and compact the area where possible. He added that a response plan must be discussed with those responsible.

Regarding the protection of high-rise buildings in the surrounding area, Mr. Anutin said the Department of Public Works and Town and Country Planning is already conducting inspections, and the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) will likely have a plan for how to reuse some of the buildings with missing piles.

As for the need to lift four 30-ton concrete blocks first, the Prime Minister stated that there was no problem. Reporters had already seen that the concrete was in sections and could be cut into sections and lifted gradually.
