Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul Restructures Government Into Eight Specialized Task Groups

Bangkok: The Prime Minister signed off on the division of responsibilities into 8 task groups. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul issued an order reorganizing tasks into eight new areas, including combating corruption, drug trafficking, and scammers, with the Prime Minister personally overseeing these efforts.

According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul signed Prime Minister's Office Order No. 83/2569 concerning the administration of government by task group, in order to restructure the government's work to be clearer and more integrated. The order establishes an organizational structure divided into eight main task groups, encompassing security, economy, society, and public administration, with the Prime Minister and each Deputy Prime Minister responsible for overseeing their respective roles.

Key task forces include those focused on combating corruption, drug trafficking, online crime, and transnational crime, with the Prime Minister directly in charge. This also includes task forces related to infrastructure, assigned to Deputy Prime Minister Pipat Ratchakitprakarn. Meanwhile, the task force for natural resources and decentralization is overseen by Deputy Prime Minister Songsak Thongsi, with goals focused on sustainability and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Regarding economic and investment matters, Deputy Prime Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapha has been assigned to oversee the promotion of investment in future industries such as AI, semiconductors, and clean energy. Regarding trade, agriculture, industry, and tourism, Deputy Prime Minister Supajee Suthamphan will be in charge, while security and international relations will be overseen by Deputy Prime Minister Sihasak Phuangketkaew.

In addition, task forces have been established for human resource development, education, and the health economics, with Deputy Prime Minister Sachanan Wongsawat in charge, and for legal affairs and public administration, with Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nilapraphan overseeing them. The order also stipulates that all task groups must integrate their work when cross-agency issues arise, in order to ensure the effective implementation of government policies. The order is effective from April 8, 2026 onwards.
