Prime Minister Celebrates Chinese New Year of the Horse at Chinese Embassy in Bangkok

Bangkok: The Prime Minister celebrated the Chinese New Year, the Year of the Horse, at the Chinese Embassy in Thailand, emphasizing the longstanding friendship between China and Thailand. He expressed hope for continued success and strong cooperation between the two nations.

According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, along with his wife, Mrs. Thanon Nirami, attended the reception at the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Din Daeng, Bangkok. They were welcomed by Ambassador Zhang Jianwei of China. The Prime Minister was presented with a blue vase with a gold dragon design by the Ambassador, and in return, he presented a bouquet of red flowers to congratulate the Ambassador on his departure.

The event included cultural performances such as the Yingge dance and a lion dance. The Prime Minister took part in the tradition of painting the eyes of the lion, a symbol of vitality, and placed a red envelope in the lion's mouth. He also experienced a ride on the EHANG EH216-S, an electric unmanned passenger drone.

Participants were able to engage in activities such as ring toss, a tea ceremony, and soccer, as well as visit an exhibition of Chinese folk culture. During the visit, two artists from Sichuan Province presented the Prime Minister with a painting of a horse, which took a month to complete. The Prime Minister requested his name in Chinese characters be added to the painting and was awarded a red sports shirt after trying his hand at soccer.

In the banquet hall of Building B, attendees enjoyed a drum performance and a video about the Chinese New Year. The Prime Minister delivered a speech in Chinese, expressing gratitude to the Chinese leadership and the Ambassador for their hospitality. He extended New Year wishes to Thai people of Chinese descent and expressed the desire for enduring friendship and cooperation between China and Thailand.

The event was attended by numerous Thai politicians and business leaders, including Deputy Prime Minister Bowornsak Uwanno, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Captain Thamanat Promphao, Senior Chairman Dhanin Chearavanont of Charoen Pokphand Group, and CEO Sarath Rattanavadi of Gulf Development, among others.
