Prime Minister Holds Urgent Meeting Amid Rising Tensions in the Middle East

Bangkok: The Prime Minister convened an urgent meeting to closely monitor the escalating situation in the Middle East, which is expected to persist for four weeks. Ministers Anutin Charnvirakul and Sihasak Srimuang were among those present to assess the developments and the potential involvement of the United States in escalating the conflict.

According to Thai News Agency, the meeting took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul. He was welcomed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Sihasak Phuangketkaew. The Situation Center meeting was conducted in Conference Room 3 and included senior officials such as Mr. Panidol Patchimsawat and Ms. Maratee Nalita Andamo. A teleconference linked the meeting with all Thai embassies and consulates general in the Middle East to discuss and monitor the evolving situation and strategize on providing support to Thai citizens in the region.

Ms. Ursa Mongkolnavin, Director-General of the Department of South Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, reported that the conflict is expected to last for at least four more weeks. There is a possibility of further escalation by the United States, with ongoing attacks noted in areas like Iran. The attacks, led by both the US and Israel, particularly target Tehran's strategic locations, infrastructure, and civilian sites.

Concerning Iran's leadership, the regime is in a transitional phase following the loss of its Supreme Leader and is set to appoint a new leader soon. Meanwhile, Israel has extended its military actions beyond Iran to Lebanon.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to visit the war room following the meeting and will provide a public briefing on the discussions and subsequent measures.
