Prime Minister Leads Alms-Giving Ceremony for Queen’s Birthday

Bangkok: The Prime Minister presided over a Buddhist prayer ceremony and offered alms to 148 monks to make merit on the occasion of Her Majesty the Queen’s birthday.

According to Thai News Agency, the ceremony took place at 7:30 a.m. at Sanam Luang Ceremonial Ground, with the Prime Minister, Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, and her spouse, Mr. Pitak Suksawat, leading the event. The alms-giving ceremony was held to offer royal merit for the Queen’s birthday on June 3, 2025.

The event was attended by the Privy Council and their spouses, the President of the Supreme Court and their spouses, the President of the Senate, the President of an independent organization and his spouse, the Deputy Prime Minister and his spouse, the Minister, the executive of the Royal Household Bureau, the Secretary-General to the Prime Minister, the Governor of Bangkok, the Commanders of the Army and Police and their spouses, and the Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office.

During the ceremony, the Prime Minister lit incense and candles to worship the Triple Gem and presented them in front of the portrait of Her Majesty the Queen. The officials conducted the religious ceremony by inviting the precepts and Paritta, while the monks gave precepts and chanted Buddhist prayers.

Following the prayers, the Prime Minister, along with other dignitaries, presented monk robes and Thai offerings. The monks gave their blessings, and the Prime Minister poured water and paid homage to the Triple Gem, then paid respects in front of the Queen’s portrait. The alms-giving ceremony involved 148 Somdej Phra Rajakhana, Phra Rajakhana, and monks receiving alms.

Concluding the ceremony, the Prime Minister and his spouse traveled to the Royal Household Bureau Building 904 in the Grand Palace to sign the book of best wishes for Her Majesty the Queen’s birthday.
