Bangkok: The Minister of Energy revealed that the Prime Minister has ordered close monitoring of oil prices, fearing geopolitical conflicts could drive up prices. He indicated that the Venezuela issue would not have a significant impact if the United States manages it well.
According to Thai News Agency, Energy Minister Attapol Rerkpiboon commented on the oil price situation following the conflict between the United States and Venezuela, stating that it needs to be monitored because several events could have an impact. Regarding Venezuela, he said that the situation hasn't yet caused oil prices to skyrocket, and the United States is managing Venezuela's oil reserves well.
Regarding the US stance on expanding its territory, this remains to be seen as it involves geopolitical factors.
When asked how long the situation would have to last before affecting Thailand's fuel prices, Mr. Attapol emphasized that it needed to be closely monitored. He added that Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul had instructed close monitoring of fuel prices and reassured the public that Thailand had not yet increased its fuel prices.
Regarding future assessments of the impact on us, Mr. Attapol stated that there would be both positive and negative effects, which need to be closely monitored.
