According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, ahead of the 'PT Grand Prix of Thailand 2026' in Buriram province, elaborated on the measures being taken. He confirmed that relevant agencies, including security and international bodies, are on standby to aid citizens in affected regions. Coordination is underway with the Royal Thai Air Force, and discussions have been held with the Air Force Commander about preparing aircraft for evacuation. Options such as chartering flights are also being considered, and airspace closures are being monitored to determine the best routes for returning citizens, especially those at heightened risk.
On economic preparedness, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Ekniti Nitithanprapha, is preparing for all potential scenarios due to anticipated impacts on living costs, fuel prices, and energy expenses. Efforts are focused on minimizing these effects on the public.
The Prime Minister disclosed that over 70,000 Thais are abroad, with approximately 7,700 residing in Iran. Coordination is ongoing to ensure readiness, with several Air Force aircraft prepared for deployment. Discussions with the Air Force Commander emphasized the need for expedited processes and the potential use of government aircraft with high efficiency to avoid refueling stops.
In response to questions about the potential escalation of the conflict, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of preparedness to mitigate severe impacts on Thailand. He advised Thai citizens abroad to adhere to the safety measures of their host countries and highlighted the establishment of a 24-hour hotline and operations center by the Thai Embassy to assist them.
The Prime Minister underscored the necessity of tomorrow's National Security Council meeting at 10:00 AM, which will be followed by discussions with private sector stakeholders. The aim is to implement measures to stabilize prices and shield Thai consumers from severe economic impacts.
