Prime Minister Promotes “Thai Helps Thai” Campaign to Boost Economic Growth

Bangkok: The Prime Minister is encouraging citizens to exercise their rights in the second phase of the "Thai Helps Thai" campaign, emphasizing that it is not a handout. Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul addressed the importance of this initiative, which aims to collectively stimulate economic growth, during the launch of the "Half-Interest Loan" project in Bang Bal District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province.

According to Thai News Agency, Anutin expressed his commitment to improving the quality of life for all citizens. He highlighted the success of the first phase of the campaign, noting that last month's funds were quickly utilized. The Prime Minister encouraged citizens to take advantage of the second phase, which features a 60/40 financial split devised by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Ekniti Nitithanprapas. Anutin shared a personal anecdote about purchasing a watermelon smoothie from an OTOP shop, illustrating how the campaign encourages citizens to engage in local spending.

The government is focused on fostering public involvement in economic development, aiming to strengthen the economy and enhance monetary circulation without imposing undue burdens. Despite borrowing funds, the government assures repayment responsibilities will be managed. Anutin addressed concerns about tax increases, clarifying that the government's initiatives are designed to stimulate spending and economic participation, rather than imposing additional financial strain on citizens.
