Bangkok: Private sector joins in organizing Songkran 2025 to support Thai tourism. TAT expects Thai tourism to generate 19,240 million baht in revenue. Meanwhile, the public admits to being careful with spending and is concerned that the economy will not recover.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), revealed that for the Songkran Festival in Thailand in 2025, TAT is not only focusing on foreign tourists, but also giving importance to the group of ‘Thais travel in Thailand’. This year, TAT predicts that domestic travel will be 4,418,500 people-trips, an increase of 6%, generating income of 19,240 million baht, an increase of 9%, supported by the Songkran Festival held throughout Thailand.
Ms. Woraluck Tulaphorn, Chief Marketing Officer, The Mall Group Co., Ltd., stated that The Mall Group is one of the important private sectors of TAT in expanding the results of organizing tourism activities in every festival, similar to organizing activities during the Songkran Festival in Thailand this year. The event, ‘THE MALL LIFESTORE SONGKRAN FESTIVAL’, aims to provide happiness and fun for the whole family from April 10-16. The Mall Lifestore Bangkae is set as a significant water-playing spot in Bangkok on the west side, supporting the circulation of money from tourism during the Songkran Festival. The event includes a simulated beach playground, a water tunnel at M GREEN PARK, and a parade featuring beauty queens and international personalities, along with various entertainment activities across Bangkok.
Many people expressed caution with their spending during Songkran this year. While they continue the tradition of buying gifts for elders, they are opting for fewer purchases due to rising prices. Some prefer to stay home, stocking up on food and necessities for the holiday, amid concerns about the slow economic recovery and the impact of US tax measures on their financial stability.
